I Found This New Book....I'm In Love

Hey everyone,
I found this book online and I have to admit it is one of the best parenting books I have read. It deals mainly with parenting and the ex's but It has some really good info about step parenting. You all should go check it out. I just love it. Thanks for reading....

Vacations!!!!

So my husband's family and I went on a little 4 day vacation. We arrived home about an hour ago. We had so much fun!

Everything seemed to go very well with our kids while we were gone. But we did have a little problem...My husband Ryan and I found out that our 13 year old (my step son) was up watching porn while everyone was asleep. I talked with my husband about it and we came to an understanding...we decided that HE should sit down with him and have a talk.

My thoughts about the whole situation is like this: Porn is a natural thing for 13 year old boys to be
interested in. However, It is not right. There is law's that you must be 18 years or older to watch this material. Also, in some cases porn can turn into an addiction.

My husband fully agreed. (Wow, we don't agree on things like this usually) So tonight he is going to have "the talk."

If anyone has any more to add to this please comment.

I hope we are doing the right thing!!!!

I'm Back

So I haven't wrote on this blog for quite sometime. I decided that I now HAVE to write one everyday! So this will be just an update for my time gone.

Since the last time I wrote, things have been very different.

Life seems to be a lot easier. Although there are those moments every day when you just want to
give up.

Grades are still a big issue in my home. We have decided not to do grounding anymore cause it
just doesn't seem to be working. However, we do take away things that are important to our kids.
We just took away a cell phone that my step son's mom gave him for Christmas. I did warn her not to give him the phone because his grade's were getting worse. That's another story for later....the mom...aka "The Devil" is what my husband and I call her! HAHA

Kids Behavior When They Come Home From The Biological Parents House

My husbands ex wife has the kids every other weekend and when they come home they are completely different. The oldest is a very out going, fun and happy person but when he comes home from his mothers house, he is quiet and doesn't speak a lot. The middle child is very loud and full of life. When she comes back home she is ten time louder and disrespectful. And the youngest, she is a very hard child. She is rude and doesn't listen. When she comes home she tells me that I am not her mom and she doesn't have to listen to me. (This is what her mom is telling her) I don't know what to tell them to make this stop!

Don't try and do all the work with your step kids

I found myself doing everything for my step kids. I woke up every morning and got my step kids ready for school, made lunch everyday, bathed them and then I realized I was getting over worked. I was not getting any good feed back from my husband and he made me feel as if I was doing everything. Put your foot down and tell your spouse that he needs to take care of his kids as well. Don't feel like a babysitter feel like a mom!

Can you really love your step children as if they were your own?

My question is simple. Can you really love your step children like they were your own. Being a step mom to 3 children, i find myself asking this question a lot. I love my step children but i love my own child differently. My daughter is so much like me and my husbands kids are like their mother. (Which I can't stand.) I need advice and answers from fellow step mom's! Please comment!
